At Narangba Station Health Centre, our skin doctors provide regular skin cancer checks for patients concerned about a mole, a changing spot, as well as more comprehensive skin assessments.
Queensland has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with cumulative sun exposure increasing the risk of developing skin cancer. Regularly checking your own skin and speaking with a doctor about any new or changing spots can help identify changes that may need closer assessment.
During your consultation, your doctor will discuss your sun exposure and skin cancer history, then examine your skin using a dermoscope to look closely at any spots of concern. If needed, they may recommend photos to monitor a spot over time, or a referral for further assessment.

Skin Cancer Screening & Treatment Services
Our comprehensive skin cancer screening and treatment services in Naangba are designed to help identify suspicious moles, spots and lesions as early as possible. During a skin check, your GP will carefully assess your skin from head to toe and may use a dermatoscope to examine areas of concern in greater detail.
Regular skin checks can help detect skin cancer at an earlier stage, when treatment may be simpler and more effective. Depending on the findings, our doctors can provide further assessment, biopsies and treatment where clinically appropriate. Our skin cancer services include:
Full Skin Assessments
Our doctors will perform a thorough skin assessment to check moles, spots and other skin changes that may need attention. Suspicious areas will be examined in more detail and, where appropriate, further investigation or treatment recommended.
Biopsies
If a mole or lesion requires further investigation, your doctor may recommend a biopsy. A small sample of tissue is removed and sent to a pathology laboratory for examination, helping determine whether further treatment is needed.
Lesion Removals
Some skin lesions may need to be removed because they are suspicious, changing, uncomfortable or otherwise clinically appropriate to treat. Your doctor can discuss the most suitable removal method based on the type, size and location of the lesion.
Excisions & Grafts
Where clinically appropriate, suspicious or confirmed skin cancers may be surgically excised with a margin of surrounding tissue. For some larger or more complex wounds, a skin graft may be considered to help close the area and support healing.

Frequent skin monitoring in Australia is especially important for early detection and prevention. While everyone should have their skin regularly checked for early signs of skin cancer, some individuals may be at higher risk than others and should prioritise routine screening.

- Have fair skin, freckles, or light hair.
- Have a history of sunburn or prolonged sun exposure.

Fees & Medicare Rebates
An initial 15–20 minute skin consultation costs $150.00 and is not eligible for a Medicare rebate. Medicare does not generally cover routine, preventive full-body skin checks or annual skin cancer screening.
In addition, further fees may apply if your doctor recommends additional treatment, including biopsies, procedures or prescriptions. These will be explained to you during your first appointment before proceeding.

To schedule your skin assessment, please call reception or use our online booking system via the button below. You can also visit our contact page to see further details about our location and directions.
Bookings are available from as early as 7AM on weekdays and Saturday subject to availability. We are also open Sunday mornings, plus late on Monday and Wednesday evenings until 8:00PM.
Can’t find us? – We are situated across the road from Narangba Train Station within the Narangba Village shopping complex. Look for Star Discount Chemist and we are to the right of this building.
