Our Fees & Billing

Narangba Station Health Centre is a mixed-billing medical practice. Depending on the service provided and your Medicare eligibility, your appointment may be bulk billed, privately billed with a Medicare rebate, or fully privately billed.

Our standard consultation fee is $95, with an eligible Medicare rebate of $42.85. This fee falls below the Australian Medical Association’s  recommended fee of $102 and enables us to continue providing high-quality, sustainable medical care to our community whilst remaining as cost-effective as possible.

If you have any questions, please call us on (07) 3521 5523

Medicare Safety Net

If you require frequent medical consultations or tests, the Medicare Safety Net offers financial relief by minimising out-of-pocket expenses for individuals or families receiving numerous services. This is a commonwealth scheme (not an insurance scheme) that is available to all Australian residents.

Medicare Rebates

For Medicare Card holders, to instantly receive your rebate, please bring any physical debit card (yours or a family member’s) to your appointment.

If you do not bring a physical card, we will manually process the rebate which is often received within 24 hours. Medicare will only rebate where an attendance has taken place either face-to-face or via telehealth.

Results

If your doctor has requested blood tests, you will need to book a follow-up consultation to discuss the results. This consultation can be conducted either as a face-to-face or telehealth appointment.

Please note: As a private practice, there are fees associated with all consultations. Follow-up consultations for results are generally not bulk billed unless this has been explicitly indicated by the doctor during your previous consultation.

Bulk Billing

At Narangba Station Health Centre, some of our services to patients are bulk billed. Please see information below regarding some of the services

DVA Gold Card Holders & DVA White Card Holders

Children Aged Under 5

Bulk Billing is available Monday to Friday between 9:00am to 5:00pm for children aged 5 and under who are regular patients. To qualify as a regular patient, parents must be registered patients of the practice. The child must also be registered through My Medicare and have had a minimum of two in-person consultations within the last six months.

Pension & Health Care Card Holders

While Pension and Health Care Card Holders are not bulk billed, they may also receive a discounted fee at the doctors’ discretion. Please ask during your appointment.

Fees Table & Pricing

Please be advised that consultation fees are subject to change depending on the complexity of the consultation.

Medicare Disclaimer: Services involving a consumable and treatment room fee do not attract a Medicare Rebate. Therefore, if you have reached your Medicare Threshold, please call our reception team to enquire about your rebate.

Medicare Safety Net

If you require frequent medical consultations or regular medical tests, the associated costs can accumulate over time. The Medicare Safety Net serves as a financial safety net, offering additional relief by minimising out-of-pocket expenses for individuals or families receiving numerous out-of-hospital services throughout the year. You can view more information about the Medicare Safety Net on the Medicare Australia website, or you can contact the friendly staff at Narangba Station Medical Centre and ask any questions.

How does it work?

If an individual or family exceeds a certain gap payment threshold within a calendar year, Medicare covers 100% of the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) fee for out-of-hospital services. However, this may not cover all out-of-pocket costs if the treatment fee exceeds the schedule fee.

For single individuals, no action is needed—Medicare automatically increases the benefit once the threshold is met. Couples and families, however, must register to allow Medicare to track their combined medical expenses. This registration is required even if all family members share the same Medicare card and only needs to be done once.

What services are covered?

The Medicare Safety Net threshold covers various doctor visits and tests.

Some of the services included are:

  • GP & Specialist Consultations
  • Ultrasounds & Blood tests
  • Pap tests
  • CT scans & X-rays

Medical services not covered by Medicare and in-hospital services are not part of the Medicare Safety Net. Admission to the hospital, including surgery, doctor visits, and tests during hospitalisation, falls outside the scope of the Safety Net.
