Hearing Aid Fitting, Trials & Aftercare Support

Hearing aids can change the way you experience everyday life. They make conversations easier, help you reconnect with the people around you, and restore confidence in moments that have become harder.

At Narangba Station Health Centre, we provide hearing aid assessment, supply, fitting and ongoing support in partnership with Audiwell Hearing. The wide range of hearing aids we support are discreet, intelligent and adaptable, with technology designed to make speech clearer, reduce listening effort and connect with compatible phones, televisions and other devices.

Furthermore, your audiologist is not limited to one manufacturer which means we’ll help you find a solution that fits your lifestyle and needs. Book online or call us on (07) 3521 5523 to make an appointment.

Hearing Aid Fitting Narangba

No One-Size Fits All

No single hearing aid is right for everyone. That’s why your audiologist will consider your hearing test results, lifestyle, budget and personal preferences before recommending suitable options.

Call us on (07) 3521 5523 to book an appointment and take advantage of our hearing aid trials for up to 2 weeks.

Your hearing aid journey

Getting the right hearing aids starts with understanding your hearing and what you would like to improve.
From your initial consultation through to fitting and ongoing aftercare, your audiologist will guide you through the options, professionally program your devices and continue making adjustments as you become accustomed to hearing with them.

Here’s how the process of getting hearing aids works:

Consultation & Assessment

Your audiologist assesses your hearing and discusses your everyday listening difficulties, lifestyle, preferences and budget to understand what you need from your hearing aids.

Choose the Right Device

You’ll be guided through suitable hearing aid styles, technology and features, with recommendations based on your individual hearing needs rather than a single manufacturer.

Professional Fitting

Your chosen hearing aids are fitted and programmed for your hearing. Adjustments are made to optimise comfort, sound quality and performance in everyday listening situations.

Tuning, Aftercare & Support

Your care continues after fitting. Follow-up appointments provide an opportunity to fine-tune your devices, address any concerns and keep your hearing aids performing at their best.

Signs hearing aids may be worth considering

Hearing loss often develops gradually, which means it can be easy to adapt without immediately realising how much harder listening has become. Whilst a comprehensive hearing assessment will determine whether you are suffering from hearing loss, here are some common indicators you may require hearing aids:

01

You frequently ask people to repeat themselves

You may find yourself saying “sorry?” more often or needing people to speak more clearly.

02

Group conversations are becoming difficult

Following several speakers can become harder, particularly at restaurants, gatherings or other busy environments.

03

The television is louder than others prefer

Regularly turning up the television, radio or phone may indicate that some sounds are becoming harder to hear.

04

People seem to mumble

You may hear someone speaking but find individual words less clear than they used to be.

05

Background noise makes speech difficult

Conversation may be relatively easy in a quiet room but significantly more challenging when other sounds are present.

06

Listening feels tiring

Concentrating intensely to follow speech can increase listening effort and leave you feeling fatigued after conversations.

07

You are withdrawing from social situations

Hearing difficulties can make gatherings, restaurants or group conversations less enjoyable and may lead you to avoid them.

Hearing Aid Costs

The cost of hearing aids varies depending on the style, technology level, features and devices most appropriate for your hearing needs.

Because we work with multiple manufacturers, your audiologist can discuss suitable options across different technology and price points rather than restricting recommendations to one product range.

Medicare & Funding

Medicare does not generally cover the cost of hearing aids themselves. However, eligible patients may be able to access support through programs such as the Australian Government Hearing Services Program, NDIS, WorkSafe Queensland or private health insurance, depending on individual circumstances and eligibility.

Our team can discuss relevant costs and potential funding options with you before you proceed.

Hearing Aid Types

Choosing the right style involves balancing your hearing needs with comfort, appearance, dexterity and the features you want. The four most common hearing aids we supply include:

  • Behind-the-Ear (BTE)
Hearing aids sit behind the ear and connect to an earpiece inside the ear canal.
  • Receiver-in-Canal (RIC)
Discreet hearing aids that use a small device behind the ear with a receiver positioned within the ear canal.
  • In-the-Ear (ITE)
Custom-made to sit within the ear and can provide an easy-to-handle alternative to smaller hearing aid styles.
  • Completely-in-Canal (CIC)
Hearing aids that sit deeper within the ear canal and provide a particularly discreet option where clinically suitable.

Some of the brands we work with and supply include:

Hearing Aid FAQs

No, you do not need a referral. Both new and existing patients can generally book directly with the audiologist without a GP referral. A referral may be relevant where you are seeking eligible Medicare rebates for diagnostic audiology services.

If you are struggling to follow conversations, turning the television up, finding background noise increasingly difficult or regularly asking people to repeat themselves, a hearing assessment is a good starting point. Your audiologist can determine whether hearing loss is present and whether hearing aids are likely to help. In some instances, hearing aids are not suitable and patients may require cochlear implants or bone conduction devices where hearing loss is severe.

In partnership with Audiwell, we work with a range of leading hearing aid manufacturers including Beltone, Bernafon, Oticon, Phonak, ReSound, Signia and Widex which allows your audiologist to recommend suitable devices without being restricted to one manufacturer.

We can supply a wide range of hearing aid styles. The most common options include Behind-the-Ear (BTE), Receiver-in-Canal (RIC), In-the-Ear (ITE) and Completely-in-Canal (CIC) hearing aids. In addition, both rechargeable and Bluetooth-enabled hearing devices are also widely available.

No, you typically will not receive your hearing aids at your first appointment. Your first appointment is used to assess your hearing and determine the most appropriate options that fit within your lifestyle, budget and hearing condition. Hearing aids are generally ordered following your consultation and fitted at a subsequent appointment.

Modern hearing aids can use directional microphones, digital processing and noise-management technology to help make speech easier to access in challenging environments. The level of benefit varies depending on your hearing, the environment and the technology within the device.

Yes, many modern hearing aids offer Bluetooth or other wireless connectivity and can connect to compatible smartphones, televisions and accessories. If this feature is of importance to you, your audiologist can recommend the best options based on the devices you use.

Yes. Audiwell provides ongoing follow-up, adjustments, maintenance and support after fitting so your devices can continue to be optimised for your hearing needs.
